The Top 5 Gaming Mice On The Market Reviewed
Buying the Best Gaming Mouse is certainly something that you as a gamer are very interested in, since all of your online victories will depend on it. There are a lot of things you have to keep in mind when you want to buy one such mouse and one of them is the type of sensor it uses. There are two types you can go with, including optical and laser sensors with the laser sensor being more accurate and allowing you to use the mouse on multiple surfaces. Optical sensors on the other hand have no acceleration problems and that’s about it.
There are also wireless and wired gaming mice and the good news is that the wireless models are so advanced now that it would be very hard to differentiate between them and the wired models. Having a wire attached to your mouse may provide more peace of mind and contribute to better mouse performance (response times), but that’s something most gamers are still debating.
How about mouse weight? Can you change that? Of course you can! Some mice feature weights that you can insert in special pockets underneath them until the mouse provides you with the gaming experience you’re looking for. Lastly, do consider the build quality of your mouse and battery life (if applicable), since you will be using it for extensive gaming sessions and there are great chances you’ll slam it against the table for numerous times. Because of that, it needs to be very durable, so you don’t need to buy another in just a few days.

Most of us gamers have had a pleasant experience with the gaming mice purchased from Logitech (at least I did) and if there is one thing that stands out about them, that is customer support. If your mouse or any other product you buy from them breaks, then a call later you’ll already have a new one shipped to you. That’s really something that few other manufacturers are willing to do to please their customers. Now getting back on topic, Logitech’s latest addition to the gaming market is their G502 Proteus gaming mouse which is outstanding from a few points of view.
First of all, this mouse has a massive 12.000 DPI which means that you’re getting incredible accuracy. Everything you do will feel extremely precise no matter if you’re using it for gaming or Photoshop. The mouse also allows you to customize its weight, featuring weights that allow for increments of 3.6 grams.
On top of that, there is also a surface customization option which means that you can run the software and then move the mouse on your desired surface so it adjusts the mouse’s performance for that particular surface. And if you’re used to claw gripping your mouse while enjoying our favorite games, then the G502 Proteus is certainly a mouse you should not overlook.
There are some bad things that people have been saying about it though, as with any product out there. For instance, some gamers have accused the mouse for having the left click too close to the DPI shift keys. Other than that, there are some complaints about the thumb rest as well, saying that it doesn’t jive well for palm grip users.
MMO players have a lot to celebrate thanks to the Razer Naga MMO gaming mouse. Playing WoW and strategy games is much easier now, since the Razer Naga features 12 numbered buttons on the side that can easily be accessed with your thumb. Most of the times it seems that the thumb won’t get to be used as much while gaming, but Razer decided it would put yours to work and that’s how the Naga came to be.
The mouse has a very impressive design and its buttons can also light up in green or blue (depending on the color you went with), giving it that extra touch to set it apart from the crowd. Oh, it’s worth mentioning that this is a wired mouse, so you don’t have to worry about charging it.
But if there is a special feature you’ll love about this gaming mouse, that’s the ability of storing your profile in the cloud. So when you want to take it with you at a LAN party, you just need to connect to the cloud in order to access your configuration and off you go! Boasting a great level of comfort, an impressive mouse wheel and a high resolution sensor, gaming with the Razer Naga is an utter pleasure every real gamer should experience.
Some users though have badmouthed the Naga claiming that it has double and triple clicking issues with the left and then the right button. On some forums several gamers have even mentioned that suddenly the buttons may not want to click unless held down for a few seconds. Could be a software problem of some sort.
Many of us have to decide between getting a gaming mouse that is very functional or one that has a great shape which allows for a good grip. Fortunately, the Vengeance M65 marries both function and form, allowing you for the first time ever to use a mouse that fully meets your comfort and gaming needs. There are 8 buttons you can customize on the M65, allowing you to get the edge in any battle you engage in with your friends or with the CPU.
In terms of design, the mouse can be used by both claw and palm grips, featuring textured pads on each side in order to provide a comfortable resting spot for your 2 outermost fingers and of course, your thumb. Therefore, if you have a big hand, you’ll be very satisfied with the M65, since it’s going to fit in your hand like a glove.
The software’s user interface is not that great, but at least it works and it helps you to customize the mouse as per your needs. Any button can be customized with simple or complex macros and when it comes to the sensitivity, it can be toggled between 50 and 8200 DPI. Once you have managed creating a profile you like, all you have to do is save it and it will be stored on the mouse’s onboard memory. You can also import and export other profiles if you want.
All in all, this mouse is one of the best you can get if you want a mouse that successfully marries comfort and function. There are though some bad things about the M65 that need to be mentioned. For instance, there is no left-handed option and the software is quite confusing for a lot of people. Because of that, you’ll need to spend a lot of time getting about with it, but not everyone has the patience to do that.
One of the first things that will stand out about this mouse aside from its unusual design is the price. It’s got to be the most expensive gaming mouse you can currently get, but it does offer some perks no other mouse out there is capable of. To begin with, he R.A.T. 9 features an external charger and 2 interchangeable batteries, but it also comes with 3 different pinkie tips and 3 different palm rests. Each of them is designed for either height, grip or comfort, so you have the ability to really customize your experience with it.
The sensor on this bad boy is the new Twin Eye laser sensor, which allows for precise and accurate movement. You can also use it for as long as nine hours straight for those long gaming sessions, which makes it pretty much a top notch performer. With a total of 6400 DPI and the ability to customize this like no other mouse on the market, the R.A.T. 9 definitely earns its spot as one of the best gaming mice you can currently get.
Some negative things about the R.A.T. 9 though have to be mentioned, since each gaming mouse has something that just doesn’t work as it should. For instance, some users mentioned the mouse randomly jumps around when gaming or just using it for browsing the web. Also, the battery on the wireless version lasts very little contrary to what Mad Catz claimed and it needs to be recharged every day.
If you’re an ambidextrous gamer, then there is no better gaming mouse out there for you than the Razer Taipan. Thanks to its ambidextrous form factor, no matter if you’re a left handed or right handed person, you can easily use it for everything you need to do on your computer, regardless if that’s gaming, Photoshop, internet browsing and so forth.
The 8200 DPI 4G sensor tracks incredibly well, which allows you to make very precise shots that will give you the upper hand in every gaming match you’ll engage in. And since it can also be calibrated to your specific surface, the Taipan is that much better compared to other options currently available.
With 9 Hyperesponse programmable buttons, 1000 Hz ultrapolling rate and a maximum tracking ability of 200 inches, the Razer Taipan is definitely in a league of its own, managing to satisfy even the most demanding of gamers.
On the con side, it seems that the Synapse software is just badly implemented and will quit controlling the extra buttons. This is not really great news if you’re a hardcore gamer who needs to make use of every button this mouse has to offer.
My personal choice for the Best Gaming Mice
I have used every mouse on this last and since I always love to customize my gaming experience, I have to express my preference for the Mad Catz R.A.T. 9 for not only being incredibly customizable and therefore making my gaming experience that much better, but also because of its futuristic design. It just looks incredible on my desk and I always get compliments from my friends for that. While the price is high, the ability to customize the R.A.T. 9 so specifically is something unique that you can never get with any other mouse currently available.
